Thank you for visiting the on-line gallery of L’Asie Exotique. We are dedicated to objects of beauty intended for the indigenous cultures in which they were made. Whether the antique object was created by a naïve craftsman or an acclaimed artist, we offer works of art that were considered important as items of use and ritual.
In these pages you will find a variety of beautiful esoteric items from the countries of Asia. The largest portion of our selection comes from Japan and China. You can access all categories either through the homepage or in the margin bar. Detail information is provided by clicking on the desired object.
Some highlights from Japan are rare Edo Period festival dolls, functional tansu, fine Meiji Period basketry for Ikebana and Chabana, inspirational Buddhist art, folk ceramics and sumptuous textiles. Our Chinese selection includes furniture, scholar’s items, ceramics and textiles. From Thailand and Burma we offer bronze, dry lacquer, and silver Buddhist imagery. In addition, we invite you to browse through a diverse and exciting selection of items from Indonesia, Korea, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, India and Sri Lanka.
