UH20095 Japanese Seto ware Cha-ire, a tea caddy used in tea ceremony for the storage of tea powder, an unusual form a variant of the Katatsuki (shouldered vase) shape, having a slender form somewhat concave, flaring outward to meet the squared shoulder, with a rolled rim set above the short waisted neck covered with a thick matte speckled brown temmoku glaze stopping short of the rough string cut base, turned ivory cover with gold foil underside, silk brocade shifuku bag, kiri wood storage box. Excellent condition. 3-3/4” high x 2-1/4” in Diameter. 19th Century. $1,000.
