QH00040 Chinese pair of wood carved Fu Dogs, rendered from a single block of hardwood each, with exquisite detailing in a naive style, the dogs are opposing, crouched on their haunches, each with one paw on a drum, detailed musculature and hair spirals along the mane, mouths open and tongues extended, standing on a squarish base and with a hole each on the top of the heads either for joss sticks or candles. Minor signs of wear, some candle wax residue, original lacquer finish with traces of gold leaf remaining, overall fine condition. 9-1/4” High. Early 19th Century. $2,400.
