NG91019 Japanese Deerskin Fireman's Coat, stenciled dyed leather wherein the leather is stenciled in rice paste and then smoked to create the amber brown background, the character crest on the upper backside is of the fireman's brigade with further decoration on the lower half of stylized ideograms, additional characters on the lapels and one character near the collar on the dyed blue interior of the coat. Minor signs of use and wear otherwise excellent condition. 40-1/2" High x 49-3/4" Wide. 19th Century.
