UA01019 Japanese paste resist dyed (tsutsugaki) futon cover in four panel width with design of a phoenix in a paulownia tree symbolic of producing many children and thus an appropriate design for a new bride’s futon cover, rendered in white reserve with light blue, pinks, and grey tones. Three preventative back patches over pin-sized holes, otherwise fine condition. Meiji Period. 51-1/2" X 52". Circa 1890. $1,500.
