UG81008 Japanese Ko fuku no inori Gosho Ningyo, a good luck prayer wish palace figure of a plump boy carved of wood kneeling in front of a large painted clam shell with a clam digging tool in his right hand, a wish for finding conjugal love or possibly a parody of Urashima Taro discovering the undersea kingdom which is known to be inside a clam shell, a village scene is painted on his chirimen bib, the body is covered in gofun with inset hair and painted features kneeling on a silk brocade cushion. Gofun restorations, signs of age & wear, minor surface cracks at the left heel and the underside, otherwise fine condition. 6-1/2” High.
