CY93111 Indonesian Antique Bed Ornament from Java, carved of one piece of hardwood in the form of a human Wayang puppetry character with serpent like body and detailed head with sharp nose and elaborate headdress, the high relief carving augmented with red and black lacquer pigments and gold leaf details, used as a mosquito net tie back hook hung from the bed post. Signs of age, wear, minor loss of pigments, otherwise fine condition. 15” high with contemporary stand. Circa 1900. $350.
