UH30145 Large Japanese Yajirou Kokeshi, Miyagi prefecture, by Sato Yoshiaki (b. 1936), a hard wood waisted narrow tapering columnar body, wider at the base, flattened globular head, painted with a distinctive red concentric circles on the top of the head, facial features with open arched and double lidded eyes, (naga-bana) long nose, side locks with red radial petals, small red lips within black lines, the body decorated in bands at the base a large flower blossom, kimono neck line. Ink signature on the base. "Sato Yoshiaki". Dents to the head, colors faded, finish worn on the top and flaking other minor signs of wear, otherwise good condition. 17-1/2" high x 5" in diameter. 20th Century.
