UH30143 Japanese Naruko Kokeshi, Miyagi prefecture, a narrow columnar body slightly concave, hard shoulder, separate globular head with flattened top, pegged into the body by a dowel so that the head turns and squeaks, the "nightingale voice", facial features with single lid eyes, (neko-bana) "U" nose, and hair depicted in black, pony tail on top of the head, side locks in the characteristic three brushstrokes, red lips, the body decorated in bands at the neck and base with two large red chrysanthemum blossoms on the shaft. Ink signature  on the base "Suguwara Kazuhira, May Showa 51 (1976)". Minor signs of wear and use otherwise fine condition. 11-7/8" high x 3-1/4" in diameter. Dated 1976.
