UH30120 Japanese Yajirou Kokeshi, Shirabu Onsen, Miyagi prefecture, a hard wood narrow tapering columnar body slightly flared at the base,  globular head, painted with a distinctive black beret on head with colored concentric circles on center, facial features with open eyes, (neko-bana) "U" nose, side locks with concealed ears depicted in black, tiny red lips, the body decorated in bands at the waist with flower blossoms above and below and kimono neck line and base with two large red chrysanthemum blossoms on the shaft. Ink signature  on the base "Hiromi, Shirabu". Minor signs of wear otherwise fine condition. 9-3/4" high x 2-3/4" in diameter. 20th Century.
