UH30115 Japanese Togatta Kokeshi, Miyagi prefecture, a narrow columnar body, tapering at the shoulder, globular head, characteristic (tegara) red chrysanthemum painting on the head, with the facial features with narrow open eyes, (ware-bana) split nose, and hair depicted in black, the body decorated in a kimono line neck and a set of four red stacked blossoms (kasanegiku) on the shaft. Ink signature on the base, "Tamajiro". Worn surface pigments otherwise fine condition. 9-1/2" high x 2-5/8" in diameter. 20th Century.
