UH30119 Japanese Togatta Kokeshi, from the Aone Onsen, Miyagi prefecture, a narrow columnar body, tapering at the shoulder, globular head, characteristic (tegara) red chrysanthemum painting on the head, with the facial features having narrow open eyes, (ware-bana) split nose, and hair depicted in black, the body decorated in a plum flower design on the shaft. Ink signature on the base "Eiichiro", possibly Takasaki Eiichiro from Yamagata. Excellent condition. 9-1/2" high x 2-5/8" in diameter. 20th Century.
