UH11023 Japanese album leaf painting from the Nomai no Zu (Illustrations of Noh Dances) of a Noh play, the scene of the famous battle between Musashibo Benkei and Ushiwaka-maru at the Gojo Bridge depicting Benkei in a mask and priest’s costume wielding a naginata and the youth Ushiwaka with his sword drawn, all painted in ink, mineral and gold pigments in detail on paper with speckled gold leaf mist. Surrounding paper losses, air bubbles to paper backing and signs of wear. 8-1/4” High x 10-5/8” Wide.
