An Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug, Russian Empire (1721-1917). A fine wool pile in Turkish knot tightly woven on an all wool base. A geometric design consisting of three large Shulavar medallions with the inward pointing arrowheads in blue, green, yellow, white and black on a red field containing multi-coloured octagrams, framed by three borders, octagons  on a blue background, Bordjalou pattern on a white ground and finally a Lambalo meandering floral on a red ground. Label on backside. 

Condition: Good overall foundation , some minor wear on center, one end complete, one slightly eroded, edges striped-green-red and blue.

Measuring: 101 in. x 52 in.

Antique Persian Jijim Rug. A flat weave vegetable dyed wool in contrasting colour stripes woven in six narrow strips approximately 9-1/2 inches wide stitched together to create one large rug. Alternating stripes in white, blue, rose-red and blue-green contain small woven directional stemmed cup repeat within the confines of the narrow stripe.
Condition: Minor signs of wear and age, edges and ends bordered in braided wool, otherwise fine condition.

Antique Turkmen Tekke “Princess Bokhara” Hatchli Prayer Rug / Door Hanging (Ensi), Afghanistan

A fine natural dyed wool in a dense Persian knot in thick pile on an an all wool foundation. A traditional directional Hatchli design of a repeat candlestick pattern in deep blue on a red field quartered to contain a cross on center with Bovrek “C” shapes. This center square is framed by a border of double crosses and a peaked roof design on top. The surround is a herringbone tree pattern repeat, with door frame white Shinak border. The bottom skirt panel is composed of a floral blossom repeat on a brown field. 

A Princess Bokhara is a term coined by Western dealers in the 19th century to signify the superior quality of Oriental Carpets hand-knotted by the Tekke in this specific directional design used as both a door hanging and a prayer rug. This piece is a solid example of style and quality for this type of collector’s rug. Two labels on backside.

Condition: Restored, one rewoven patch in the bottom panel, ends complete with short fringe, the edges complete with deep blue wool double re-wrap.

A floral design consisting of one hooked outline red medallion in light blue, orange, yellow, white and black on a dark blue field containing multi-coloured quatrefoils, framed by two borders, multi-coloured botehs on a red background, multi-coloured vine pattern on a white ground. Slited Kilim top edge in various colours as original saddle bag closure device. Labels on backside. 

Condition: Excellent overall, ends complete, and single wrap indigo wool edges complete.

Measuring at midpoints with a 3/4 inch variance from end to end: 24 in. x 22-3/4 in.

A geometric design consisting of two Kepsi Gul, a stepped component medallion in salmon, blue, red, black, brown and white containing anchor shapes, all on a purple brown field, the main border having alternating geometric shapes on a white ground, flanked by a running dog border on either side. 

Condition: Minor repairs to two corners, excellent overall, single wrap wool edges complete, ends with finished detail on the top and long fringe.

Antique Kirsehir Yastik Rug, Central Anatolia, Turkey. This traditional design in Turkish knot tightly woven on an all wool foundation is an excellent example  of the colours and workmanship of the region. This Yastik format of a central stepped hexagonal blue medallion outlined in pink and white contains a central red winged design. The overall field is a vibrant ruby red with four matchbook designs resembling multi-coloured birds and coiled green snakes in the four corners. The frame is a border of continuous light blue vine on a yellow field. The top and bottom further trimmed in lappet design strips and flat weave ends.

Condition: Excellent overall, ends with small losses, short fringe and edges double wrapped in red wool.

The frame is a Khamseh border design of multi-coloured bird heads on a white field. Label on underside.

Caucasian Genje Diagonal Stripe Rug, Long Format, Russian Empire. A fine vegetable dyed wool pile in Turkish knot tightly woven on an all wool base. A classic Genje design of wide red diagonal stripes alternating with a different colour; blue, green, yellow and white, each containing bands of hooked parallelograms in contrasting colours. The major border design is composed of arrowhead quatrefoils on a white field.

Condition: Wrinkle wear over 1/4 of the surface, two warp break lines repaired, good overall foundation, backside with reinforced canvas strip over the thin area of the rug, ends complete, edges wrapped in red and blue wool.

Each panel with a field repeat of Kaikalak hexagonal lattice, surrounded by a border of diamond lattice. The saddle is hand-knotted as well. Braid tops, Flat weave cotton back  in orange. A geometric front panel design in black and white on a deep red field, consisting of an octagonal Memling Gul medallion on center framed by two Serpent borders,and three sets of crossed hooks underneath. The back panel in a solid red wool flat weave and the opening trimmed in traditional loops in black wool as the original saddle bag closure device. Labels on backside. 

Condition: Excellent overall, saddle trimmed (originally two bags), and single wrapped wool edges in black, white and red, complete with end tassels.

Condition: Reworked into a table runner, double wrapped wool edge and glued on cotton fringe with stitched edges on either end, otherwise fine.

Antique Silk Tabriz Prayer Rug, Northwest Persia. A high quality pictorial and directional design. This rug is a unique interpretation of the traditional symmetrical columnar niche format depicting a waq-waq tree, a Persian oracular tree whose branches bear fruit with the heads of  men and mythical animals. The rug is intricately complete with a variety of flora, creatures, humans, camels, birds, fish and dragons all on a copper colored field and a dark blue sky. The major border having scrolling vines on a cream ground. A very fine silk pile in Persian knot tightly woven on an all silk foundation. The ends have long fringe and the edges are tightly wrapped.

Condition: Excellent.

Large Antique Persian Kerman Rug, South Central Persia. A fine wool pile hand-knotted and tightly woven on an all cotton foundation. A meticulous traditional dense Islamic floral geometric pattern of Arab medallion design, having a large stepped edge medallion on center with floral designs on a dark blue field surrounded by six Arab medallions and the corner spandrels with a steel blue field. The rest of the surrounding spandrels are of a deep red field. The major border of multi-colored 16 sided medallions alternating with  floral lozenges on a dark blue field. Each side of the border with five more patterned minor borders. Contemporary carpet pad of the same size included. 

Condition: Some fading on one Arab medallion, some minor red bleeding, body intact, ends complete, edges wrapped wool over cotton, overall fine condition.

Fine Antique Senneh Rug Runner Fragment, Northwest Persia. A fine wool pile in Turkish knot on a cotton and wool foundation. Composed from a center section from edge to edge of a repeat boteh pattern on a dark blue field. The major border of a leaf and blossom design on a white field flanked by the minor borders in a boteh meander design on a coral field. 

Condition: Reworked, edge finished with wool wrap and cotton ends with short fringe.

Measuring: 24 in. x 52 in.
