Thai Gilt Bronze Figure of a Standing Buddha,depicted upright with both hands extended forward and slightly up from the elbow, wrists bent backward, palms face forward with the long elegant fingers of the same length, reaching towards the heavens, exaggerating the pose of the abhaya mudra, both a symbol of freedom from fear as well as of welcoming, raised floral and tendril vine tile pattern on the robes over one shoulder including the sash, the robe with symmetrical drapery stopping just short of the ankles, blocky in form with the rectangular shaped bare feet, the head with a symmetrical serene face having heavy eye lids and pronounced arched eye brows, elongated earlobes and peaked ears,  domed usnisa with durian spine hair curls arranged neatly in rows  topped by a separately cast flame finial, standing  on a three tiered and crenelated octagon base topped by a round stand with relief decorative features all around consisting of flames, lotus leaves and tendril vines, covered overall in black  lacquer and the upright tier portions with red pigment and gilded overall. Open underside of base with some of the clay core remaining.
Minor signs of wear with small nicks and losses to gilt and lacquer, minor gilt restorations over the lifetime of the piece, overall fine condition.

Losses to gilt, minor signs of wear, overall fine condition.

Antique Bronze Figure of Maravijaya Buddha, Thailand, Lan Na, Sukhothai post-classic style, 14th/15th Century.
Gracefully seated with legs folded in the hero pose exposing the sole of his well modeled right foot resting in the crook of his left leg in paryankasana position on a simple shaped base. The hands are cast with long elegant fingers like lotus flowers just begining to open with fingertips curled back with curved nails like petals, the right hand in bhumisparsa mudra near the knee over the top of the right shin known as the earth touching position or subduing Mara. The left hand in dhyana mudra, resting in the center of his lap and at the heel of his right foot. He wears a diaphanous layered sanghati outlined with ridges at the wrist, waist, knees ankles and across his torso leaving his right arm uncovered revealing his pronounced nipple, the garment smoothly draped over his squared and rounded shoulders with arms firm and rounded like the trunk of an elephant, and with the robe edge folded over with reversing inflection, resembling a shawl over the left shoulder terminating in elegantly pleated folds also interpreted as “fishtail notch” ends to the edge of the garment that extends from just aside his navel to the base of his spine. The face in a calm meditative expression with downcast incised eyes beneath high arched brows and fine long aquiline nose, the lips incised in an enigmatic smile. The Ears elongated to the first fold of the neck and the top corners slightly peaked. The hair rendered with a V hairline echoing the arch of the brow with large snail shell curls in rows and three tiers for the ushnisha topped by a three layered flame finial symbolic of the Buddha’s radiant energy, the patina of dark brown tone with subtle red copper patches. 
20th century custom teak wood base.
Condition: casting thin and pitted in some areas, overall fine condition. 
Image measures: 13 in. high x 9-1/4 in. wide x 5 in. deep. The stand measures 1-3/4 in. high x 10-1/4” wide x 6-3/4 in. deep.

Burmese Mandalay carved wood figure of the standing Buddha on a square base, the left hand is in the varada or boon-granting mudra the right held up towards the chest, costumed in edge decorated robe with glass insets resembling a cape with the layered folds and flared design all gold leafed, the flesh revealing portions with flakey white gesso pigments, the gentle face with shell inset eyes, pendant earlobes and domed usnisa.
Condition: Some glass insets missing, white pigment brittle and flaking, signs of wear, overall fine condition.

Burmese carved solid wood image of the Hermit Sumedha, known for lying down and stretching his body thin before the Dipankara Buddha using his body as a bridge so that the Buddha would not have to walk in the mud, in turn prophesied that Sumedha would become the next Buddha. Portrayed here in this stretched-out form with arms extend grasping his long hair with a lotus spire ornament at the top, all covered in red/brown lacquer with traces of gold leaf remaining, later mounted upright on a simple solid wood base.
Minor signs of wear, overall fine condition.

Traces of original red and black lacquer coating with gold highlights, signs of wear otherwise fine condition.

A heavy uniform casting with base partially hollow.
Condition: Losses to the original lacquer and gilt revealing the bronze base having a genuine greenish patina, overall a fine example.

Burmese Bronze Buddha, Shan States, a seated image of Lord Buddha depicted in padmasana, (interlocking legs position) and the hand mudra in bhumisparsa (earth touching) wherein the right hand resting over the left foot with the fingers just touching the base and the left hand palm up in the lap, incised detail depicting facial features with heavy eyelids, protruding lips, 
attenuated earlobes exaggerated to the shoulders, hair curls above a forehead band and conical usnisa finial, the robe simple, all resting on a simple raised base, the surface encrusted with traces of the original lacquer and gold leaf. 

Condition: Minor surface losses, casting flaw cracks where the image meets the base , bottom of base uneven, tip of finial missing, otherwise fine. 
Measuring: 5-1/2 inches high x 3-5/8 inches wide x 2-1/2 inches deep.

Burmese Bronze Buddha, for domestic use,  a seated image of Lord Buddha depicted in padmasana, (interlocking legs position) and the hand mudra in bhumisparsa (earth touching) wherein the right hand resting over the left foot with the fingers extending beyond the right shin and the left hand palm up resting on the right foot, incised detail depicting facial features with heavy eyelids, bulging pupils, pointed nose, arched eyebrows full lips, attenuated earlobes extending along the length of the short neck, domed usnisa at the top of the head and the hairline ending in a point at the back of the neck, the robe simply delineated by a few incised lines, all resting on a simple raised and waisted base, the surface encrusted with with verdigris and rust.

Condition: Signs of age otherwise fine.

Measuring: 3-3/4 inches high x 2 inches wide x 1-1/2 inches deep.

Thai Buddhist Sandstone Carving of the Head of A Buddha Image, Ayutthaya, 14th/15th Century. This scuplture has carved features with full lips outlined with an incised line known as a “trace”, the “U” of the chin broad, long aquiline nose , protruding large and arched eye lids with the eyes narrowly open revealing the pupils,over  arching brow continuing the line of the nose, short forehead,  a thin raised outline as the hairline surrounding the face, 6 rows of round boss hair curls to the domed usnisa covered in 5 rows of hair curls, large ears with attenuated earlobes reaching to the break at the neck, flat top to the usnisa and a flat area to the back of the head. The facial surface gessoed lacquered and gold leafed, the rest of the head with Varied surface mottling and lacquer remnants mostly revealing the sandstone texture of the material. Mounted with a post and drilled interior hole to a large solid teak block as a contemporary stand. 
Condition: A sculpture fragment from a large Buddhist Image, The head has been removed at the neck and the flat area at the top of the head would indicate that another mortared segment would have originally been attached possibly an undulant unalom finial, otherwise remarkably fine.
Measuring: 23-1/8 inches high overall, the sculpture is 15 inches high x 10 inches wide x 10-1/4 inches deep. The wood base is 8-1/8 inches high x 7-7/8 inches wide x 7-5/8 inches deep.

UH80060 Thai Gilt Bronze figure of a Standing Buddha Image, upright with both hands extended forward and slightly up from the elbow, wrists bent backward, palms face forward with the long elegant tapering fingers reaching towards the heavens, exaggerating the pose of the abhaya mudra, both a symbol of freedom from fear as of welcoming, the ovoid face is framed by  a helmet of durian spine hair curls in neat rows, domed usnisa with lotus bud unalom finial, well formed ears peaked with attenuated earlobes, the costume of a simple thin robe covering the body with heavy belt at the waist, standing squarely in the center of an opened lotus flower base raised on a stepped and waisted plinth, all painted red. The base and the figure have been cast separately and are joined by a pin hidden beneath the base of the feet. 

Condition: Traces of gilding over the black base remain on the figure with traces of red for the lips, eyes and toenails, the stand all with red lacquered pigment,  mild signs of wear, otherwise excellent.

Measuring overall 14-1/2 inches high x 5 inches square at the base. The figure measures 9-1/2” high.

Thai Buddhist Votive Plaque, Sukhothai style

UH80067 Thai Buddhist Votive Plaque, Sukhothai style, cast  in relief from a metal alloy of tin and lead with an iron like surface of a deep brown colour, depicting a relief image of a walking Buddha. His left foot planted firmly on the ground while his right heel is raised. His left hand is held upwards known as the Abhayamudra (the had gesture of reassurance and safety), his right hand hangs at his side, known as the posture of the Buddha in the Descent from the Tavatimsa Heaven. He wears a simple belted robe. Above the image is a two tiered honorific parasol and an arched ornamental doorway supported by a pair of columns with vases of flowers placed in front of them. Below the image a lotus styled pedestal with a loyal monkey and an elephant bestowing gifts at his feet, below which are decorative elements as well as the surround edged in a gold trim. The entire plaque is framed with a two coloured silk surround and a teak frame.
Excellent condition.
The plaque measures 14-1/2 inches high x 5 inches wide, the frame 22-3/4 inches x 13-1/4 inches. Ayutthaya Period, 1351-1767.
(It is reported that in 1957 an excavation was performed at Wat Ratchanaburana (built circa 1424) wherein 100,000 tablets were found from contemporaneous sources and cultures as well as from previous eras. In the following year to help finance the rebuilding of the temple a number of these tablets found were sold to the public. It is possible that this tablet was among those sold at that time.)

Japanese Buddhist soft wood sculpture of Jizo, the protector of women, children and travellers, a simple wood carving for a small shrine depicting a seated shaved head figure on a lotus bud throne with the left leg dangling, costumed in carved relief folds of robes worn, bare at the chest, the right hand clasped forward to hold a staff (missing), the wish fulfilling jewel held in the left hand.
Extensive pigment losses, wear and soot adhesion, overall good condition.
